Alex Schaler, P.E.
Overview
Alex Schaler is a land use and entitlements professional and licensed civil engineer, representing clients in rezonings, comprehensive plan amendments, and permitting matters across City of Tampa, Unincorporated Hillsborough County, and the surrounding Suncoast counties. Her work spans multi-family residential, commercial retail, industrial, office, and hotel, with a specialty in large, master-planned mixed-use development.
Alex brings an engineer's perspective to the entitlement process. Prior to GBH, she spent four and a half years at Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. as a Civil Engineering Analyst, working across the full arc of land development — site design, permitting, development services, and construction phase services. Alex received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Florida State University, where she concentrated in civil and environmental engineering.
Outside the office, Alex is active in the Tampa Bay real estate and development community. She is a long-time member of Urban Land Institute, where she served two years as Chair of the Young Leaders Group, and currently sits on the membership committee. She was named as NAIOP’s Developing Leader of the Year in 2024, and was honored as a Tampa Bay Business Journal “40 Under 40” honoree in the same year. She currently serves on the Henry B. Plant Museum’s Board of Trustees as an appointee of Mayor Jane Castor.
Alex lives in Cheval with her partner, Cody, and their German Shorthaired Pointer, Hux, where — despite a career spent advocating for density — she is happy to report that she enjoys the peace and quiet. Her weekends are what you would expect of a good suburbanite: local coffee, neighborhood walks, pool laps with Hux, and time with family and friends and their little ones.
